Dr. Charles Michel (1833–1913), an ophthalmologist, published the results of his work after six years of using electrolysis — the first method of electroepilation — to remove ingrown eyelashes.
Paul Kree opens a series of clinics and expands the use of electrolysis from medical purposes to cosmetic treatments. Electrolysis becomes a salon procedure.
Henri Bordier, while studying the cauterizing effect of alternating current in microsurgery, develops diathermy — also known as thermolysis — the second method of electrolysis hair removal.
Dectro International is founded — a developer and manufacturer of electrolysis devices, which later became a global leader in the industry.
